1. Installer is stupid.
Why you won't pack PNGGauntlet into SFX archive? Like this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/140024333/PNGGauntlet-201-470.exe.html
(2,5 times smaller than installer)
2. I packed 2.0.1-470 (or 2.0.1.0) version because 2.0.2 is stupid.
That is, it doesn't work. When I try to run it, there's no window or message of any sort - process closes itself after a second or less.
Windows XP Pro SP3; if you want more data, ask. Older versions work. 2.0.1.0 is not stupid at all.
3. IE is stupid.
I mean, there are people who like it.. But why is it used when I have another browser installed and set as default? When I click on Help> About PNGOUT it opens tab on IE and on default browser.
Stupid installer & stupid v2.0.2 & stupid IE

1. The SFX is not a big saving over the zipped MSI (323K vs 525K), neither of which is very big, and in general I'm more comfortable running an MSI from the internet than a random .EXE.
2. 2.0.2 works for me on Vista and XP. It starts up just fine and compresses like I'd want. Maybe you have something wrong with your system? Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling PNGGauntlet.
3. Your system must be misconfigured. Help links only open in Firefox for me. On machines where IE is the default, I only get links opened in IE.Posted 1 year ago # -
One thing to note is that if there's a problem opening your default browser, PNGGauntlet will fall back to opening IE. So it may be that Firefox isn't properly installed on your computer.Posted 1 year ago #

Don't be stupid, my system is not "misconfigured", it's different. Every single PC differs from another. Everything works fine, except that minor stuff with PNGGauntlet.
Firefox isn't properly installed on your computer.
I didn't even say "Firefox". What about Opera?
I can make simple app which opens only default browser, another programs are also doing well.

So ZIP it. It's still smaller and you can check contents before doing anything :) Actually, screw it, as long as installer works properly (like in 2.0.2, unlike older) - but remember, ZIP always works.
Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling PNGGauntlet.
I did that, but only 2.0.1.0 worked. I didn't check in Vista, though.Posted 1 year ago # -
hm, it's possible that Opera doesn't register itself properly as a URL handler. I'll have to test it. I'm just asking the Windows shell to open a URL and then opening IE if that fails.
As for the installer, it is zipped.
I'm at a loss to explain why pnggauntlet doesn't start on your system though. I've never seen it do that before and I'm not sure what I'd ask you to tell me. Maybe I'll make a debutg build and send it to you, but this is a very busy week.Posted 1 year ago #
