When I try to run PNGGauntlet on Windows 7 I get the following error message:
Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\PNGGauntlet\output.txt' is denied
...

Which is actually the default on Windows 7, no application should be writing anything on that folder, which I find is a sensible setting. Is there a way to set it so that it writes the output.txt under the users AppData/Local folder instead.

Well, somehow, PNGGauntlet does not start on my computer. Windows just keeps poping up the error message. And I have .NET Framework 4.0, so I guess my OS must be the problem. I'm using XP SP3, and I wonder if this version of PNGGauntlet is compatible with it?

Great application! I have only had a few opportunities to make use of it, but I already know that this one's a keeper.

Some files that don't compress, however, actually *grow* in size. I thought I'd simply review these files by sorting on the "% Original size" column. No dice; it resorts the list, but I can't tell what it's actually sorting on. All I know is that it doesn't sort on any column correctly but the "Filename" column.

PNGGauntlet worked amazingly well.

Problem: I have 3 large image files, all just greyscale logos, very simple graphically and around 450x75 in size. GIMP saved them out at around 390K each. I tried optipng and it did absolutely nothing. I even tried to shrink them in GIMP by cutting their size WAY down and the smallest files were still over 350K.

PNGGauntlet reduced them down to 16K each. Insane changes. MUCH appreciated.

hello,

I recently created some fireworks images/docs, these were made up of many layers and then exported as a png for use on a website. I ran pnggauntlet to compress these files but now I have returned to make some changes, it looks like now all of the layers have been converted into a bitmap background!

I really need to be able to edit my original document, please help?

hm, it's possible that Opera doesn't register itself properly as a URL handler. I'll have to test it. I'm just asking the Windows shell to open a URL and then opening IE if that fails.

As for the installer, it is zipped.

I'm at a loss to explain why pnggauntlet doesn't start on your system though. I've never seen it do that before and I'm not sure what I'd ask you to tell me. Maybe I'll make a debutg build and send it to you, but this is a very busy week.
