I wrote an AutoIt script using ImageMagicks convert and Inkscape for SVGs and pngout or optipng for optimizing the produced PNGs.
I will try to reach PNGGauntlets GUI Clarity together with independence from .NET and very fast GUI reaction times.

Could you tell me, for what do you need Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.dll, Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.Shell.dll and why the GUI is starting so slowly ?

Interesting. I'm just using the JPEG-to-PNG capabilities of PNGOUT - your best bet is to convert your JPEGs to PNG using ImageMagick or something else, and *then* run it through PNGGauntlet to compress it. PNGGauntlet is really for compressing PNGs - the JPEG-to-PNG conversion is just a convenience.

I suppose it would help for me to actually deploy the new version of the site. Give it a shot now.

Apparently the DL link still points to 2.1.2, not 2.1.3; can't find it.

It looks like somehow the old version got packaged into the installer. Weird. I've uploaded a new version 2.1.3 that should be correct. Please give it a try.

I've just downloaded and installed the new version which is labelled as 2.1.2 on the installer but the about box when installed is saying its version 2.1.1.0, I'm also getting the output.txt message too.

Do you have a link to the updated version as the following link

http://benhollis.net/software/pnggauntlet/upgrade/

Is a link the old version.

Thanks Stu :)

Sorry about that. I accidentally left some debugging stuff in. PNGGauntlet 2.1.2 has been uploaded that doesn't have that in.

When I try to run PNGGauntlet on Windows 7 I get the following error message:
Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\PNGGauntlet\output.txt' is denied
...

Which is actually the default on Windows 7, no application should be writing anything on that folder, which I find is a sensible setting. Is there a way to set it so that it writes the output.txt under the users AppData/Local folder instead.

Just as a note, I've uploaded PNGGauntlet 2.1.1, which will work on either .NET 3.5 or .NET 4.0, which should help avoid some of the confusion.
